UiTM is on a journey to achieve its objective of becoming a globally renowned university (GRU) by 2025, with the goal of making UiTM one of the world's leading universities by 2025. 

According to the UiTM2025 framework, the university will transform and strive to become a leading player in science, technology, the humanities, and entrepreneurship by 2025. It places emphasis on the expansion of its global cooperation network as it encourages the university to engage proactively with changes, new developments, and current demands, such as the Industrial Revolution 4.0 (IR 4.0), the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the Malaysia Education Blueprint 2015–2025 (higher education), and the Shared Prosperity Vision 2030. This is done to make sure that UiTM keeps up with the needs and changes in higher education on a national and international scale.
