Quality and Legal Compliance
- The Malaysian Institute of Transport (MITRANS) is committed to ensuring that its governance and service delivery are of the highest quality, and that all operations fully comply with relevant legal and regulatory requirements.
Our Commitment to Quality
MITRANS has established and operates a comprehensive Quality Management System (QMS) based on the international standard ISO 9001:2015. This commitment underpins the implementation of the Institute's core and support activities, which include:
- Quality Policy: The MITRANS Quality Policy aims to manage the centre of excellence through training, consultation, research, and academic programs, with the goal of producing graduates who are agile, competitive, and ethical.
- Quality Objectives: Quality management is driven by measurable Quality Objectives (e.g., revenue generation, success rate of consultation projects, indexed publications, postgraduate completion rates, and staff training compliance).
- QMS Scope: The MITRANS QMS covers five (5) core activities (academic teaching & learning, postgraduate supervision & research, research & publication, consultation & commercialisation, and Continuous Professional Development/CPD training) and five (5) support activities, which specifically include Legal and Quality.
Legal and Regulatory Compliance
MITRANS ensures that all its operations meet the legal and regulatory requirements related to the products and services offered. This includes adherence to:
- Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA) Standards: Compliance with the Code of Practice for Programme Accreditation (COPPA) and the Code of Practice for Institutional Audit (COPIA) in managing programs and quality assurance.
- University Acts and Regulations: Adherence to the Universiti Teknologi MARA Act 173, the Institutions of Higher Education (Discipline) Act 1976, Academic Regulations, UiTM's Plagiarism Policy, and other internal guidelines.
Quality Documentation
- A Controlled Document copy of the MITRANS Quality Manual is available on the official MITRANS website. Management and staff are responsible for referencing this controlled document to ensure the implementation of the stipulated standards.
